Description: This print appears to be a later impression published as an addition to 'M. Auer's polig. Illustr. Zeitschrift 'Faust', c. 1850. Originally published 1818. Artists and Engravers: Made by 'P. Fendi' after 'Ph. Wouwerman'. Peter Fendi (1796 Vienna - 1842 Vienna) belongs to the most significant names in the Austrian art history of the 19th century. At the age of 14 he began studying at the Vienna Academy among his teachers Fischer, Maurer and Lampi. For years he worked as a copyist for the Royal Imperial Numismatic and Antiques Cabinet (now the Museum of Fine Arts) at the same time being active as a free-lance artist.
